Thousands of Good Jobs at the
Port!
This
Thursday, June 17, the Board of Harbor Commissioners will vote

negotiations for an agency-wide Project Labor Agreement at the
Port of Los Angeles. Over the next several years, the Port of
Los Angeles will be investing over $3 billion dollars worth of

The Construction Careers Policy will ensure that an
agency-wide project labor agreement (PLA) will be negotiated
with the Los Angeles/Orange County Building Trades Council which
means thousands of good middle class jobs for working families
and the local community.

Construction Careers Policy by attending the Port of LA Harbor

Registered Nurses to Picket for Patient and
Nurse Safety!
In
response to the Hospital Corporation of America’s (HCA)
lack of movement on many nurse and patient safety issues,
registered nurses at the three HCA hospitals will be holding an
informational picket outside each hospital June
16-18.
“We think
the public should know what’s happening at their community
hospitals,” says Nanette Logan, RN, a member of the SEIU
Local 121RN Bargaining Team from Los Robles Hospital.
“These issues don’t just affect nurses, they affect
how you or your loved one is cared for and the state that a
nurse may be in when he or she is caring for
you.”

LAUSD to Vote
on Doing Business Only with CLEAN
Carwashes!
On
June 22, the LA Unified School District Board will vote on a
resolution requiring the District to do business only with
carwashes that have signed the “CLEAN Carwash
Agreement.”
By
signing the CLEAN Agreement, carwash owners pledge to abide by
minimum employment, health and safety, and environmental
standards and to respect workers’ right to organize a
union free from intimidation or harassment.
Using only “CLEAN” carwashes to
wash LAUSD vehicles will ensure that our tax dollars don’t
go to carwashes that are abusing workers or the environment.
Please come out to support this important
vote!
WHEN: Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at
